I read a story the other day about how Arabian horses are trained in the middle east. The horses must learn to fully obey their master. This obedience is tested by depriving the horse of water for many days and then turning it loose near water. As the horse gets to the edge of the water, and just before they drink the much-needed water. The trainer blows his whistle. If the horse has learned to obey it will turn around and come back to the trainer who then gives it as much water as it needs. The trainer knows what his horse needs and will not allow it to die of thirst, but the horse must trust him. In the same way…God knows what His children need and will to supply it, but we must trust and obey Him. Today, I want to talk to you about growing in obedience! Learning to obey is paramount. We need to especially obey the voice of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word so that we will continue to grow and mature as a believer!

Passage: Mark 1:14-18
Series: Next Steps
Duration: 43 mins 38 secs
: This morning we are starting a new series. More than just a series…a theme for the year. Our theme this year is next steps! What is your next step. What is the next thing that you need to do to continue growing in Christ? What is your next level? What area do you need to grow in? Where is God leading you? Some people just don’t know what their next step is…some people may think they have gone as far as they can go…and the result is their spiritual life has plateaued. Some people have gotten so busy in life…that they have lost sight of what God is asking them to do next.

This morning’s sermon will be a little different! I like to use variation when teaching and preaching. Sometimes…doing things different helps us to see things, hear things, and even feel things differently…than if we used straight teaching and preaching. Jesus did not always preach…sometimes…he told parables…he used every day examples. Sometimes he performed miracles…sometimes he let his actions speak…remember when he forgave the woman caught in adultery…that was not a sermon…it was an action. Remember when he spoke to the fig tree and it died…that was not a sermon…it was an action! Here is the key…Jesus was always teaching the truths of the kingdom! So this morning…our service will be a little different…it is my hope and prayer…that it will help all of us learn the truths of the kingdom!

Series: Advent
Duration: 31 mins 51 secs
One of my favorite things about the Christmas story is it is filled with miracles.  We are reminded that God does miracles. We are reminded that God does miracles for regular people. Some people tend to think that only special people get miracles.  We may not ever say that…but we may feel it.  We need to remember that Joseph and Mary were just regular people. Just like us!

Today is the second Sunday of Advent! Advent is about preparing our hearts. It is about anticipating the coming of Christ as the babe in the manger! It is good…it is helpful…it is necessary…for us to learn…or to relearn…how to slow down and to anticipate the coming of Christ! Why is it important? Because…just as Jesus came to this world the first time…He will come again.

Today I want to talk to you about letting God out of the box. What does it mean to let God out of the box? It means to take the limits off God! I want you to know that we let God out of the box when we are LOVING AND SERVING TOGETHER! That is the title of today’s message. Do you know what happens when we serve God together?
